03-30-2014 Meeting Agenda

Scouts & Parents:This Sunday is an important meeting.  March 30, 2014;  Games at 6:00 PM, Meeting 6:15 PM to 7:45 PM.It is time for Troop Elections and our Annual Constitutional Rights & Obligations Discussion (1st Class Requirement #5)ALL RANKS BELOW 1st CLASS;  (Scouts, Tenderfoots, and 2nd Class), NEED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING FOR REQUIREMENT SIGN OFF.  This happens once a year.

Then, we will have Troop Elections for our Leadership Slate for the next 6 months beginning April 1, 2014.

TROOP ELECTION RULES:
The Senior Patrol Leader will be elected by the whole Troop
Patrol Leaders will be elected by their individual Patrols
The SPL will choose his Assistant Senior Patrol Leader’s
The SPL with his ASPL’s will appoint the other Troop Leadership positions.  (The SPL will have final approval)
Only 1st Class and above (with certain Scoutmaster exceptions) can hold Troop Leadership positions:
Troop Guide
Scribe
Quartermaster
Den Chief (x2)
Webmaster
Troop Historian (photographer)
O/A Representative (must be in the O/A)
Bugler
If an elected Patrol Leader is chosen for a Troop Leadership Position and accepts the Position, the second place Patrol Leader elected will take the Patrol Leader Position.

The Patrol Leader will choose his Patrol Leadership positions.  Any rank may hold Patrol Leadership Positions:
Assistant Patrol Leader
Patrol Scribe
Patrol Quartermaster

ALL LEADERSHIP POSITIONS (Troop & Patrol) WILL BE EXPECTED TO TAKE PART IN Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST); EVEN IF THEY HAVE TAKEN IT IN THE PAST.  Part of the new ILST will include “Troop 718 Leadership Procedures” for all leadership positions.  THE LAST PART OF THIS TRAINING WILL INCLUDE PARENT PARTICIPATION.

If you are interested in being a Leader, review the attached Responsibilities for the position you are interested in and be prepared to talk about your qualifications (speech).  You may prepare for and request multiple positions, but will only be elected/appointed to one position.

YOU MUST BE AT THE MEETING TO RUN FOR AN ELECTED POSITION, BUT IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE MEETING, SEND ME AN E-MAIL FOR ANY “APPOINTED” POSITION REQUESTS.

It is our goal to have all Leadership Positions filled by the end of the meeting.  TO ADVANCE TO STAR OR LIFE RANK, YOU NEED TO SERVE IN A TROOP LEADERSHIP POSITION.
