Backpacking PACKING Tips
- Sleeping bag compartment
- With other sleeping stuff
- Tent on the bottom of main compartment
- Stuff sack or compression sack
- Tent poles and stakes separate
- Heaviest items closest to your back (between shoulder blades)
- Example : food (not snacks)
- Clothes on top
- Tent poles in side pocket
- Secure with compression sack
- Tent stakes on opposite side
- Rain jacket on top of pack for quick access
- Preferably under lid
- Ten Essentials.. PLUS
- Store at easy access area from OUTSIDE of backpack
- May need quick access to Headlamp, First Aid, knife
- Other items like bear-bag line
- Carabiners, etc.
- Store at easy access area from OUTSIDE of backpack
- Water bottle and Snacks at outside easy-access pockets
- Snacks in hip strap pockets if available
- Carabiner for water bottle

- Extra footwear for water crossing
