  • SUN AUG 18  6:15-7:30 PM  TROOP MEETING  Flags: Sparky Spartans
    • Pre-Meeting Knot: Clove Hitch (again)
    • Skill & Competition: Build Your Tower – Raise Your Flag! (Lashing and flag-making skills)
    • Each Scout Should: Know your lashings and Clove Hitch
  • SUN AUG 25  6:15-7:30 PM  TROOP MEETING  Flags: Kentucky Fried Chinchillas
    • Pre-Meeting Knot: Double Half Hitch
    • Skill:  Merit Badge Workshop (let’s get moving on our merit badges!)
    • Each Scout Should: Bring all the Merit Badges and Blue Cards you’re currently working on
SEPT 8  6-7 p.m.  Physical Fitness Merit Badge  Do you need your Physical Fitness Merit Badge?  Come to the El Retiro meeting room directly following T2FC and get ready to work on this.  Bring a pencil and the Physical Fitness workbook.  Blue Cards will be available.  Go over the book-learning portion of the merit badge prior to the meeting.  ASM Pagniano and ASM Gablesberg leading.

AUG 24-26  Wilderness Survival Merit Badge Overnight at Green Valley  Newer Scouts who have not earned their Wilderness Survival Merit badge should plan to attend.  RSVP to ASM Johnson ([email protected]).

AUG 25  9-11:30 a.m.  Pancake Breakfast at the Elks Lodge, 315 Esplanade  Whether you need service hours or are just plain hungry, come support our Charter Organization and get a delicious breakfast for only $7.00! (Membership not required.)  Help make this monthly event grow by telling friends, neighbors and coworkers. Scouts can sign up for service hour shifts and help serve breakfast, bus tables, or assist wait staff with drink refills.

SEPT 15  4-5:45 p.m.  Troop Picnic/BBQ  ALL FAMILIES are invited to join us for hot dogs and fun!  Scout games and parent meet and greet for new families with the Troop 718 Volunteers.  Find out how you can help support the Troop and get answers to your questions!  Location: TBD

OCT 11-13  Family Campout at beautiful Joshua Tree National Park.  Scouts and their families can boulder through the daunting Chasm of Doom (free), or rock climb (additional fee).  Cost:  $110 to climb; $65 for campout (based on full attendance).  Planning Meeting on Sunday, Sept 29 at 5 p.m.  Grub Masters needed.
