On Thursday, October 23rd 2014 Riley Symons received his Eagle Scout rank.

Riley has been in scouting since 1st grade from cub scouts through boy scouts. His current troop is Riviera Troop 718.

For his Eagle project he designed and built large planting containers for St. Katherine’s Church in Redondo Beach, Riley’s church since birth. He felt that the church could use some landscape elements in their newly remodeled courtyard. Working with Father Michael and the needs of the church they decided to plant some useful plants for the church: Basil- which is used in some services, Rosemary- which is used to bless a home, and Oregano- because Greek cooking uses a lot of it in their recipes. Riley led several other scouts and friends on the construction of the project.

Riley is currently a sophomore at South High School. His parents, Ted and Melina Symons, along with his sister, Alexis, are so proud of his accomplishment.
