California Trail Days – April 12, 2014

Just a note that we will be supporting California Trails Day on Saturday April 12th in the Angeles National Forest.  This is a great opportunity to help repair some of the damage done to the trails in the Angeles National Forest that have occurred over the years.

We have committed to sending 15 Scouts to this event, so please volunteer to help support.  Participants will earn a High Adventure Trail Building Award (or even medal!) as well as six High Adventure Service hours that can be used towards your Backpacker, Advanced Backpacker, Mini-Peak Bagger or Peak Bagger award.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  There will be NO CHARGE for the event.  Please RSVP by April 4th so that we can get a good count and ensure adequate transportation.

This was a great event. We performed a valuable service for the benefit of all and gained a new appreciation of what it takes to maintain the trails that are the gateway to adventure for all hikers and backpackers. The scouts all worked hard, learned a few things and had a lot of fun too. Then, as a super bonus, they all got 6 service hours too ! Special thanks to ASM’s D’Ambrosio, Applegate and Wheeler for their coordination and participation.
