Boy Scout Handbook

Troop 718 provides a copy of the BSA Scout Handbook to every new scout.  Scouts should bring their handbook to all activities, so they are always ready to practice skills and get them signed off.  The handbook is the primary resource for Rank Advancement information.  Pages 12-39 discuss what it means to be a Boy Scout.  To get the most out of the handbook, we recommend parents and scouts review together the following pages:

  • Rank Advancement Requirement sign-offs, pages 432-443, and stated pages of reference.
  • Merit Badge, Camping, and Service log sign-offs, pages 444-447.

Parents can help by encouraging their Scout to 1) understand & practice the requirements, 2) attend meetings and activities that fulfill requirements, and 4) work with the Scoutmaster and ASMs to obtain sign-offs.
