It is the Scout’s responsibility to maintain sound personal records. Scouts are often asked to share their Personal Records when they are presenting themselves for Eagle Scout. If a handbook is lost or other questions arise, the Scout’s personal records will be the first source to re-create or validate his progress. Use a 3-Ring binder and clear, plastic card protectors to keep your records.
What to Keep in Your Personal Records
- Photocopies of your Advancement sign-offs as you get them, in event you lose your Handbook or pages are separated.
- A separate listing all Troop outings and activities you take part in, as a detailed back-up to the logs in the Scout handbook. Some Handbooks do not have a log for day-activities, and these should be recorded. A school composition notebook is good for this purpose.
- All patches, badges, and cards that you have earned or that mark your Scouting experience.
- All Blue Card stubs, to prove the official completion of Merit Badges.
- Troop Leadership or Training certificates.
- Documents from other areas you have been recognized, such as school, church, or clubs, and which demonstrate Scout spirit and character.
